This Modern Slavery Statement sets out the actions taken by Highbury Cleaner to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation within our own operations and our supply chains. Highbury Cleaner provides professional cleaning services and recognises its responsibility to uphold and promote respect for human rights in all areas of its business.
Highbury Cleaner has a clear and unequivocal zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery in all its forms. We do not tolerate the use of forced, bonded or compulsory labour, servitude, human trafficking, child labour that is exploitative or illegal, or any other form of abuse or exploitation in our operations or those of our suppliers and contractors.
All employees, managers and directors are required to act ethically, with integrity, and in accordance with our policies at all times. We expect the same high standards from all parties we work with, including suppliers, subcontractors and other business partners. Any breach or suspected breach of this policy is treated with the utmost seriousness and addressed promptly.
Responsibility for overseeing our approach to modern slavery rests with senior management, who ensure that this statement and the supporting policies are implemented effectively. Line managers are responsible for communicating expectations to their teams and ensuring compliance with relevant procedures.
All staff are required to familiarise themselves with this statement as part of their induction and ongoing training. Employees who manage supplier relationships receive additional guidance on identifying and addressing modern slavery risks in procurement and contract management.
Highbury Cleaner recognises that the cleaning sector and associated supply chains, such as temporary staffing, consumables, equipment and uniforms, may carry an inherent risk of labour exploitation. To manage these risks, we conduct proportionate risk assessments and implement supplier due diligence.
Before entering into a new relationship, we assess suppliers based on factors such as geographic location, type of goods or services provided, and their own labour practices. We seek assurances that suppliers comply with all applicable labour, employment and human rights legislation and that they have appropriate policies and controls in place to prevent modern slavery.
Highbury Cleaner undertakes supplier audits and performance reviews to monitor ongoing compliance. These audits may include reviewing relevant documentation, such as policies, training records and right to work checks, and, where appropriate, site visits or meetings with management and workforce representatives.
Where concerns are identified, we work with suppliers to agree corrective action plans with clear timescales. Failure to address serious or repeated breaches may result in the suspension or termination of the business relationship. We are committed to working collaboratively with suppliers to raise standards and reduce the risk of modern slavery across our supply chain.
We provide guidance and awareness-raising for employees to ensure they understand what modern slavery is, how to recognise potential indicators, and the steps to take if they have concerns. This includes clear information on our reporting channels and the protections available to those who report issues in good faith.
Employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders are encouraged to report any suspicion of modern slavery or unethical labour practices through our established internal reporting processes or directly to management. Reports will be treated confidentially wherever possible and will be investigated promptly and sensitively. We do not permit any form of retaliation against individuals who raise concerns.
Highbury Cleaner is committed to continuous improvement in our approach to tackling modern slavery. We regularly review our policies, procedures and training materials to reflect evolving legal requirements, industry good practice and lessons learned from our own experience and that of our suppliers.
This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed and approved at least annually by senior management. As part of that review, we evaluate the effectiveness of our controls, consider feedback from employees and suppliers, and identify further actions to enhance our efforts to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains.
By publishing this statement, Highbury Cleaner reaffirms its commitment to conducting business in a responsible, transparent and ethical manner, and to playing its part in the broader effort to eradicate modern slavery.
